There is no doubt that today’s world is changing faster than it has ever been. New technologies like AI, Robotics, Biotech, 3D printing and others are presenting new challenges in a world where we try to define ourselves through who we are and what we do. This was the topic of conversation at Singularity University, where Andrew Gleave, cofounder of Red Robot Studios and Owen Cutajar, Head of Digital Strategy at Webtech Ltd spent a week last December. Sponsored by Pokerstars as part of the Isle of Man Grand Challenge, this enabled learning about new technologies, their impact on society and the futures that they make possible.
Changing technologies also provide a platform for opportunity and growth and Andrew and Owen believe these technologies can provide a boost to the Isle of Man and its position in a global ecosystem. The BCS will be hosting a session for them to discuss these new technologies, and to lead a debate examining their effect on the Isle of Man. All attendees will be invited to participate in the debate which will focus on the Isle of Man’s future, our intrinsic strengths and weaknesses in this context and what opportunities and threats we are facing in our future.
The event will be held on the 28th February at 6:00pm, doors open at 5:30
