"BCS Educational Awards"

The BCS Educational Awards were successfully launched on the 26th January at St George's Court, Douglas. Representatives from a large number of the Island's Schools were in attendance to be given an outline of the background of the Awards by BCS Isle of Man Section Chairman Mike Coleman. Then following a presentation of some of the work being undertaken in the schools by the Department of Education's ICT Adviser John Thornley, the Awards were outlined in detail by the Awards Chairman, Tony Verrall.

The Awards are aimed at all students in education on the Isle of Man. The principle objective is that the student has used ICT in developing their educational potential. It does not require additional work, and it is dependent on a Teacher being able to understand how the student has benefited from using ICT in their normal curriculum.

The Minister of Education, the Hon David Anderson MHK, was on hand to support the awards, along with the sponsors :

Manx Telecom - Primary awards

Royal Bank of Scotland International - Secondary Awards
