The Isle of Man section of the British Computer Society held a talk on the legal obligations and technical considerations of website design for accessibility.
The talk was presented by Mr Nigel Danzelman, and provided a practical, hands-on guide to the design principles which underlie the world wide web. The event was held on Thursday 25th November at the Villa Marina, Douglas. "Over and above questions of best practice, this is of particular importance given forthcoming legislation to govern access to the Internet by the disabled." explained events co-ordinator, Cameron Christie.
The Isle of Man Section of the British Computer Society has seen local membership grow by over 50% since it was formed earlier this year. Joint Chairman, Paul Jarvis commented, "This is further evidence that the professional standards encouraged by the BCS have found a natural audience in the Isle of Man, an established based for both traditional and leading edge computing"
The inaugural event in September heard former head of the West Midlands Police Hi-Tech Crime Unit, Mr Russell May BSc(Hons) CITP CEng MBCS EnCE present a very well attended talk on Computer Forensics.
