The calibre of the Isle of Man section of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, has recently been reinforced by the appointment of a local committee member to high office in the Institute worldwide.
Steve Burrows, a director and treasurer of BCS Isle of Man, an international section of BCS The Chartered Institute for IT, has been appointed Vice Chair of the BCS Membership Board. The Membership Board is responsible for all aspects of membership for the Institute’s 70,000 members.
Bob Sullivan, Chairman of BCS Isle of Man, said “We’re delighted at Steve’s appointment, it is very rare for overseas members to achieve such important roles in BCS because of our limited opportunities to network with influential UK based members and the logistics of attending board meetings in the UK. Steve’s appointment not only reflects great credit and recognition to our Isle of Man section, but also ensures that overseas sections such as the Isle of Man are not forgotten when BCS is developing plans that will affect our professional members”.

Please be advised that our 2010 AGM will be held on 23rd September in Douglas (in conjunction with a regular meeting with a professional speaker), as detailed in the attached Notice.
Just as important, we need members such as yourself to participate on our local BCS IOM Committee for 2010-11. Please see the attached Nominations document, which describes the roles and the necessarily somewhat formal procedures by which members can do so.
Thanks for continued support and participation in BCS Isle of Man.
